You are What You Tweet

In recent years, Twitter has become sort of a news network for people to share what's happening in their neighbourhood, country, or even throughout the world. It's a place to get second-hand news from like-minded people because the people who you follow on Twitter, or any social media platform are people who you want to hear from, and therefore probably think like you do. For this reason, it is important that when a subject is brought to light in the media regarding a certain social issue, that you read various sources before determining your position on the issue. If you were to solely rely on social media for your news, then you would only be seeing such a small part of the picture and would not be well informed on the issue as a whole.
